There is always a danger when addressing the things of God in satiric manner that people will misunderstand. That is not my primary concern. Whether or not members of various churches within the Body of Christ are offended is of little importance to me. If offense raises the ire necessary for people to actually assess their positions, then that’s a beautiful thing. If it puts people on the defensive and closes them down, then I am sorry for it. Still, hard truths are never heeded by hard hearts, and it is only the Lord who can soften them. My goal here is to speak hard things in a humorous way, to make mockery of what much of the modern church has become to hopefully shock us back into a correct notion.

The further danger, and the one I need immense help from the Lord to avoid at all costs, is that in presenting this information in this way, I may creep into sin. I may make mockery of the Lord Himself and of his True Bride. Part of our problem today is that these types of topics attack the True Church rather than calling out the harlot who is masquerading as the bride. That is a distinction I wish to make in full recognition that, like Elijah is told in 1 Kings 20, God keeps a remnant for himself. The people of God have always struggled to do what is right and what is written, but I will not, by God’s grace, accept or make an attack on Christ’s True Bride. He will make her spotless by the washing of the water with the Word. It is my prayer that this section of the blog works to help illuminate some of the danger areas in our cultural churches so that the True Bride can wake up out of the mire of our modern moment and be the radiant Bride she is made to be.

We are to be a light of the world, a city on a hill, salt of the earth, a kingdom and priests to our God, the crown which Christ wears and shines forth His glory. Many have infiltrated our midst and claimed to be among us but have proven themselves false. The world is pushing in on every side, and there is a sense in which we are losing the spiritual battle badly. But praise God that He holds the victory in trust for His people already. In the meantime, I hope you will enjoy the ridiculous and the candor, and take some insights which will help draw you nearer to the Lord.

May the God of Truth guard you against all lies, His Word sever ever pretension, His faithfulness teach you all things for His glory, in Christ, Amen.

A question, not a challenge: why satire?

I know you’re taking aim at foolish ideas, not at people, and there’s certainly a ridiculous absurdity in a lot of them. But I’m not sure whether mockery is the right way to point that out.

    1. Satire and mockery are not necessarily the same, but honestly intend a little of both. The purpose is that some things are too serious to be taken seriously. You are right, however, that, depending on the topic, satire or mockery may not be the best way. The hope and prayer is to use satire and humor rather to take the sting out of general principles and target foolish ideas rather than the people who may hold them. I would appreciate you keeping me honest though! If what I end up posting seems less than edifying, let’s discuss a better way. Thanks for your comment!

Fair point. Would it be accurate, then, to say that you hope to hold false ideas up with humor so we can see how silly they are, rather than heaping scorn upon them?
But have no fear, I hope this can be a place of sharpening each other 🙂

      2. Maybe silliness, maybe scorn, maybe other kinds of framing. Let me know what you think of the leaked letters, because that’s the start!
